Meet the Founder

Sedrik R. Newbern, founder of Newbern Consulting Group, is a coach, consultant, professional trainer, motivational speaker, and workshop facilitator specializing in purpose-driven personal/professional coaching and business consulting.

In his 20 year career with non-profit organizations and a major “blue chip” corporation, Sedrik has held local, regional and national marketing positions in Nashville, DC and Chicago.  These experiences have given him a broad prospective of business and leadership development.  This was the foundation and inspiration that led to him becoming an entrepreneur.

Throughout his career, he has been able to connect the dots between sales, marketing and public relations to drive increased sales by implementing sales processes, training and measurement leveraging key marketing tactics.  His creative approach to consulting small business owners over the years has led to significant ROI from new business growth investments.  Most importantly, the processes have driven repeat business and referrals by focusing on providing an engaging customer experience.

Sedrik recently authored a book entitled Unconditional Forgiveness, Lessons on Letting Go To Build Better Relationships, his perspective on the impact growing up without his father had on his life. He also explores the evolution of the relationship with his father and how they moved beyond past pains to develop an unbreakable bond. Full of practical advice to those previously hurt in relationships, the book shares one man’s healing and how you too can develop healthy relationships.

Sedrik has a passion for growing the community and serving others.  This commitment is exemplified in his track record of success in the non-profit sector by raising over $1 million to support organizations like the Alzheimer’s Association, INROADS, United Way and YMCA. His extensive board leadership and active involvement has led to countless strategic plans, organization mergers, executive searches and board development action plans.

His focus is on empowering small businesses, non-profit organizations, young professionals, mid-level managers and entrepreneurs through the development of sustainable action plans to drive business growth and advance their careers through consulting, mentoring and coaching techniques.

A native of Nashville, TN, Sedrik holds a BS in Marketing from Western Kentucky University and an MBA with a concentration in Economics from Tennessee State University. His ultimate support and motivation come from his wife Denise and their son Matthew.  They currently reside in the Chicago suburbs.
